Sorrel has worked for the NHS in Lothian in a number of roles, primarily with a focus on providing new hospital facilities; her first job after university was on the team that moved the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to its new home at Little France in 2002. She is a project manager for the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and Department of Clinical Neurosciences, opening in 2019. She is also supporting the programme to develop and improve premises for primary and community care, which after all are used by many more of the public than hospitals are.
Sorrel has a particular interest in how capital build projects can bring wider benefits to the community, in employment, education and economic investment as well as in the clinical services they house. On the new “Sick Kids”, Sorrel is working closely with patients and their families, the staff who care for them, and artists and designers and charities to enhance the hospital environment and improve the experience for patients of all ages.
Sorrel is very impressed by the engagement between with You and the people that they support.
