People's Stories

Jane’s Story

One day around 2 1/2 years ago I popped into Serenity Cafe for a cuppa. I got to know people there and was asked if I would like to help with the Thrift Shop on a Thursday. I was happy to do this and when working in the Thrift Shop I organised and sold the donated clothes for a small amount of money.

Living With Schizophrenia by Bruce

I was 17… I had gone to see an Oasis concert at Loch Lomond. I remember being on the bus back to Edinburgh and I was staring into space and seeing weird faces in the curtains. When I got home I wasn’t on this planet. My mum thought I had been ‘spiked’ with acid or ecstasy.

Gayle’s Story

I have been supported by with YOU (previously Places for People Scotland Care & Support) since January 2005. Since I have been a part of with YOU I have learned a lot through them and a lot has happened in my life such as losing Norman, my partner for 17 years, through Parkinson’s. He passed away in April 2014.
